True nature of Artistic Process is in ability of being able to follow on preconceived idea. Needless to say this method not only saves time and money but protects one from necessity of improvisation. Lighting from imagination with light meter, without looking at video monitor is the approach to creative lighting in film and video. Having an Idea – a Plan in one’s mind is the cornerstone of creativity as what remains is to exploit the technical in order to realize it. As for the basics of approach it is described by Dancing with Light Technique. It quickly becomes apparent that in order to materialize Idea on Film or Video, knowledge of Grey Card and Zone System of Exposure are of paramount importance. "Dancing with Light Technique” is an expanded into motion and color - version of Ansel Adams' method of Zone System and Previsualization. Zone System of Exposure is a foundation of the technique... and imperative element in the process of translating imagined values of Grey into language of film and video. It is a systematic and logical approach to realization of creative process and as such, an invaluable tool for Directors and Directors of Photography in their pursuit of self expression. Program consists of demonstrations and participation in technical and creative aspects of Cinematic Expression.
Commercial Lighting (Product lighting techniques), Location Lighting (Capitalize on existing illumination), Exterior Light Control (Styles), Special Effects Lighting, Interview Lighting for variety of ENG applications. During intensive hands on throughout workshops, students record lighting techniques on their DSLR and/or Video equipment.
